Shoreline Social Report: September 30 – October 4

Is it just me, or is there something magical about the early days of Fall? Every year I marvel at the changing colors and the light filtering through the trees. The landscape just seems to glow! This weekend is looking to be another great one with full sunshine and temps in the mid 60s. The perfect combo for a trip to the orchard or pumpkin patch!


Wednesday, September 30th

  • Wednesday night is all about Trivia Night at Moxie in Madison! Happening under the big tent at 7:30pm with registration beginning at 7:00pm. First come, first seated at this touchless event. Come on out for food & drink specials, prizes, and fun!

Thursday, October 1st

  • Durham Farmer’s Market takes place on the Town Green from 3:00-6:30pm. Check out their Facebook page for an up-to-date listing of vendors.
  • Fall Fest is happening at Shanks in Clinton from 3-8pm. Mini pumpkin painting, apple cider & hot chocolate, mini dessert pies, & MORE fall fun! It might be chilly on the water, so be sure to dress warmly and BYOB (bring your own blanket).
  • The Shop at Guilford Art Center opens for Holiday Shopping and will be filled with fine handmade crafts by over 180 American artists. The Holiday Shop will be open Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 12:00 – 4:00pm, and Saturdays from 10:00am – 4:00pm. The Shop is open for online shopping as well as, with convenient pick-up by appointment.

Friday, October 2nd

  • The Madison Farmer’s Market is taking place on the Town Green from 3-6pm. Traditional retail is now allowed and select vendors continue to offer pre-order. Head to the market webpage to see this week’s list of vendors.
  • Thimble Island Brewing Company is hosting Live Music Fridays in Branford from 6-9pm. Head over to hear Jon Hollywood perform this week!

Saturday, October 3rd

  • The Dudley Farm Market in Guilford is open every Saturday from 9am-12:30pm. Follow along on Facebook for update on vendors.
  • The Audubon Shop in Madison is hosting a Fall Bird Walk at Hammonasset Beach State Park from 8-10:30am. Pre-registration is required and a fee of $6 payable in advance. Call 203-245-9056 to reserve your spot and be sure to visit the event page for more details on arrival procedures.

  • Pumpkin Patch Season Kick Off with The Shoreline Trolley Museum in East Haven from 11am – 4pm. Enjoy the glorious fall foliage as you ride a vintage trolley car to the Pumpkin Patch where each child can select their own little pumpkin to decorate and take home. Book your tickets today!

Sunday, October 4th

  • The Chester Sunday Market is running from 10am-1pm and they’ve officially made the return to Main St.!
  • Fall Fest is happening at Shanks in Clinton from 11am-8pm. Mini pumpkin painting, apple cider & hot chocolate, mini dessert pies, & MORE fall fun! It might be chilly on the water, so be sure to dress warmly and BYOB (bring your own blanket).
  • Powder Ridge Mountainside Market in Middlefield from 11am – 3pm. Visit a wide variety of vendors including farmers, artisan, craftsmen, flea market and antique dealers.
  • Center Line duo is playing at Scotch Plains Tavern in Essex from 3-6pm.
  • Octoberfest at Water’s Edge Resort & Spa in Westbrook from 1-4pm. Live music by Charlie Fisher, festive food, and beer and wine tastings.
