Shoreline Social Report: October 22 – October 25

I don’t know how it’s happening, but I’m certainly not going to complain about it. We’ve got another gorgeous weekend ahead of us. It’s the perfect time to get outside and enjoy all of the beautiful colors and smells of the New England autumn! Finalize the costumes for next weekend and take one last opportunity to enjoy some Halloween themed fun. Before you know it we’ll be in neck deep in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.


Thursday, October 22nd

Friday, October 23rd

  • The Madison Farmer’s Market is taking place on the Town Green from 3-6pm. Traditional retail is now allowed and select vendors continue to offer pre-order. Head to the market webpage to see this week’s list of vendors.
  • a-MAZE-ing Beer Tasting at Lyman Orchards in Middlefield from 4:30-9:00pm. Wander through the corn maze to sample frosty libations from Two Roads, Relic and Still Hill breweries from 4:30-6pm. After finding your way through the maze head over to the 1741 Pub & Grill for live outdoor music under the tent with the Brother Other Band! Purchase your tickets in advance here.
  • Pop Up Yoga at Chamard Vineyards in Clinton from 4:45-6:00pm. Join instructor Kayla Tyska for a 75 minute slow flow vinyasa with a taste of yoga nidra. Cost is $25 via PayPal (kaylatyska@gmail.com) or Venmo (kaylatyska) and payment required to reserve your spot. Space is limited to 10 participants.
  • Thimble Island Brewing Company is hosting Live Music Fridays in Branford from 6-9pm. Head over to hear Kala Farnham perform this week!
  • Not-So-Scary Halloween Drive Through at Ray of Light Farm in East Haddam. An experience designed for young children, but fun for all ages! Their magical Pony Trail is decorated and lit up for Halloween! You will find all sorts of exciting sights on the way, as well as human characters dressed to the occasion! Candy will be passed out to the little visiting goblins. 5:45pm – 8:00pm
  • The Haunted Isle 2020 hosted by the Shore Line Trolley Museum in East Haven. Legend has it that somewhere in the woods at the end of the trolley tracks lurk the things that nightmares are made of. This fall a lonely trolley will carry passengers down the tracks to the gate from 6:30 – 10:00pm. The choice is yours… enter if you dare!Do you have what it takes to face your fears? The Haunted Isle is rated S “spooky”. Not recommend for any children under 10 years of age. Tickets can be purchased here.

Saturday, October 24th

  • The Dudley Farm Market in Guilford is open every Saturday from 9am-12:30pm. Follow along on Facebook for update on vendors.
  • 2nd Annual Pie Festival hosted by the Branford Garden club from 10am – 1pm. Head over to the Green in Branford to purchase your pie! All pies are $14 and proceeds benefit the beautification of Branford.
  • The Audubon Shop in Madison is hosting a Fall Bird Walk at Hammonasset Beach State Park from 8-10:30am. Pre-registration is required and a fee of $6 payable in advance. Call 203-245-9056 to reserve your spot and be sure to visit the event page for more details on arrival procedures.
  • Pumpkin Carving with Bridgeport Sound Tigers Macot, Storm, at Lyman Orchards from 10am – 2pm. Master Carver, Matthew Terzano will provide an interactive carving demonstration for all! Tickets are $20.00 each, and include: one carving pumpkin, decorating/carving supplies and a 10% coupon to the Apple Barrel.

Sunday, October 25th

  • The Chester Sunday Market is running from 10am-1pm and they’ve officially made the return to Main St.!
