Shoreline Social Report: January 28 – January 30


Friday, January 28th

  • Kids Only Movie Night and Pizza Party at Fired Up! in Branford from 6-8pm. Your kids will have fun painting pottery and watching the movie Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (rated PG) while you enjoy a night out. $30 per child includes 1 piece of pottery from the kid’s shelf, cheese pizza and juice or water. Must be potty trained. Registration required.
  • Comedy at the Edge from 7:30 – 10:30pm. Enjoy a Night of Laughs at Water’s Edge Resort in Westbrook, performed by a trio of Comedians from Comedy Craft Beer. This is a 21 and over event and tickets are $25/person.

Saturday, January 29th

  • Kids Valentine’s Day Pottery with Fired Up!. Sponsored by Branford Parks and Rec. Join Fired Up! at the Joe Trapasso Community House 46 Church St. Branford and create a pottery piece to give to that special someone for Valentine’s Day. $30 per child. Open to kids grades k-5. Follow the link to the Branford Parks & Rec website for registration.
  • 28th Annual Holiday Train Show at the Connecticut River Museum in Essex. The show runs Tuesday – Sunday until February 20th. Come see what train artist Steve Cryan has created this year! A fully operational 26-foot train layout, “I SPY” scavenger hunts, and toddler sized viewing layout are all part of the fun!
  • A Tribute to Elvis Presley, performed by Robert Black, at The Edge in Westbrook beginning at 6pm. $65/person.

Sunday, January 30th

  • Essex Ed Groundhog Day Parade from 2-5pm. Grab your pots and pans and head to Essex Village for one of the most popular parades of the year! “Essex Ed”, a larger-than-life ground hog, will make his annual pilgrimage from Essex Boat Works on Ferry Street up to the top of Main Street leading a parade of antique cars, fife & drum corps, residents, and visitors. All are invited to join in and encouraged to bring their own noisemakers and ground hog gear to celebrate the day.
