Shoreline Social Report: December 2 – December 4


Friday, December 2nd

  • Firelight Festival at the Henry Whitfield State Museum in Guilford beginning at 4pm. Spend an evening at the Old Stone House with festive luminaria, lanterns, and outdoor fires. Enjoy roasted marshmallows and chestnuts, popcorn, hot cocoa, and mulled cider. Tour the Whitfield House after dark. Bring donations for the Guilford Food Bank and new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots. Admission: Adults (18-64) – $10, Seniors (65 & older) & Veterans – $8, Youth (6-17) – $5, Children (5 & younger) & Active-duty military personnel & up to 5 family members – Free. Free parking.
  • Guilford Tree Lighting on the Grenn from 5:45-6:45pm. Featured performers include Laura Clapp Davidson, Limelite Dance Studio, the Sarah Tuxis Singers and many Guilford children!
  • Chester Village Starry Nights Wish Booth & Holiday Stroll from 5-8pm. Be sure to join in on this First Friday event to see the lighting of the stars at 5:45pm! Over 150 glowing sculptures will illuminate in a wave of twinkling light on Main Street. Enjoy new exhibitions, exciting seasonal menus and ice cream flavors, live music and great holiday shopping to kick off the season! Saturday, December 3rd

  • Killingworth Historical Society‘s Annual Christmas Fair to be held at Parmelee Farm from 8:30am-3pm. Lots of handmade items crafted by KHS members, including live arrangements, baked goods, holiday decor, gift items, knitted accessories, and more! All proceeds go towards maintaining the properties and providing programs for members. 
  • 27th Annual Holiday Craft Fair at the North Madison Congregational Church from 9am-2pm. Over 30 quality artisans, 2500 homemade cookies and Karen’s cafe with homemade turkey pot pies and soups. It’s a great place to shop for holiday gifts and to enjoy some seasonal atmosphere. FREE admission!
  • Saybrook Starlight Festival on the Town Green from 2-6pm. Santa will be available for visits and pictures from 2:30-4:30pm and many more fun activites will be taking place throughout the afternoon. Be sure to visit the event page for the full lineup!
  • The Shoreline Connection is playing at Bill’s Seafood in Westbrook from 7-10pm.

Sunday, December 4th

  • Letters to Santa at R.J. Julia’s in Madison from 10am-2pm. Visit the children’s department for all of the supplies you need!
  • Annual Handcrafted Wreaths and Trees – Silent Auction in Clinton at the Andrew Memorial Town Hall Rotunda from 1-5:30pm. This event, sponsored by the Arbor Garden Club, benefits Community Educational Events, Civic Beautification Projects, Clinton Social Service Organizations, “Food for All” Garden and The Lucy Rathbone Elliot Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded annually to a graduating Clinton student who plans to major in Environmental Science.
  • “A Royal Christmas” Tea Tasting at The Lyman Homestead from 4-5:30pm. Guests will savor a guided tea tasting from Savvy Tea Gourmet of Madison, including traditional English tea sandwiches, quiche, and but of course, freshly baked scones with clotted cream. Tickets are $32 per person with limited seating capacity. Guests will be served in the elegant Lyman Homestead living room. All guests will be seated at tables of 6, with other guests. Advance registration is required.
