November Maintenance Guide

Take advantage of the beautiful, sunny days we’re having to finish up your outdoor home maintenance items. A little bit of prep now will go a long way to make things easier come winter and spring! Indoor tasks are on the light side this month leaving lots of time for holiday preparations. It’s time to start paring down the fall decor and mixing in a little bit of winter. Don’t forget to take some time to relax and enjoy the spirit of Thanksgiving this month after all of you hard work!


To – Dos:

Interior

  • Clean your carpets
  • Remove lint from dryer exhaust vent and check that exhaust duct is free and clear of debris
  • Replace batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and test that they are in working order
  • Check fire extinguisher
  • Clean kitchen exhaust hood and filter
  • Clean microwave and oven
  • Clean garbage disposal
  • Run water and flush toilets in unused spaces
  • Oil garage door tracks

Exterior

  • Turn off and flush outdoor water faucets
  • Drain and store hoses
  • Clean chimney and fireplace
  • Empty, clean, and store flower pots
  • Rake leaves
  • Make sure winter tools are serviced and easily accessible
  • Apply lawn fertilizer around the 2nd or 3rd week of the month
  • Clean birdfeeders for the coming season
